Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as the Philadelphia reporter in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed situated in Washington DC. In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the main congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist of the 1988 presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell was awarded the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, she was awarded the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) presented Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her work in the defense and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her reporting included a number of important stories like the Iran-Contra controversy, budget and tax reform and also the issue of arms control. She traveled extensively with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
